Where do I start??? We have an existing extension which has half the kitchen in it and half in the old kitchen (nightmare to cook in!!) so I want to change the layout and possibly brick up/ change height of some windows and add skylights, will need a full rewire, new floors and plastering but no knocking down walls or building extension. Been researching local builders and looking wistfully at expensive kitchens. Would love advice from people who’ve done kitchen renovations: what is the time line? Should I get builders first or electricians or a kitchen designer? Do I need planning permission to brick up a window and add skylights? Is it best to go for a contractor that will project manage everything? What questions should I be asking trades when I get quotes? Also makes of mid range kitchens I should be looking at (keeping gazing at marble topped bespoke beauties that I know will be over budget!!). Sorry for all the questions - any advice/ words or warning greatly received .
