Share of freehold - loft conversion

Has anyone bought a share of freehold flat with the plan to do a loft conversion? Did you have the lease changed to allow it before you purchased? We know the other freeholders of the property we are planning on purchasing and wondered what the best way to approach them was.

You need to get the lease of the flat you’re buying varied to change the extent of the flat.

That can be done alongside your purchase, then the variation and the purchase completed at the same time.

Not sure how to approach though. You’d probably need a surveyor who specialises in leaseholds to advise you.
