Hi all. I have a ridiculously small, smell mouldy and unused bathroom. I really need to sort it out with fully tiled walls. Anybody know how to work out how many square meters of tiles I need or even how to measure for them. Floor space is measuring at 8ft 5 in x 5ft. Normal ceiling height and 1 door. It's only myself and my daughter and we haven't a clue. Thanks in advance

Hey. As someone who's just finished their bathroom today I might be able to help.

Most tiles are now sold in square meters so it's useful to measure in cms or meters.

For each wall you want to tile you need measure the length and height in cm/m and times them together. So if the wall was 2m long and 2.5m high you'd multiply that together. That would make 5 and is equal to 5 square meters of tiles that you need.

Repeat the process for each wall then add them all together. When ordering they normally suggest you add 10% for wastage so that's if a tile breaks or for where cutting them means you need a bit extra.

If you want to work out what to remove for a door you first calculate the total size of the wall that the door sits in then calculate the area of the door and minus it from the wall size.

Good luck, my bathroom fitter told me how many tiles I needed so if you have one lined up that is another option!

Thanks so much. That sounds simple and so obvious that I'm embarrassed 🙈 Now the fun part... Tile choosing. Thanks again
