North of London house suggestions

Hi, we are couple in mid thirties with a 2 year old daughter. We are looking for out first house to buy somewhere in north-west region outside London. Can someone please gives us some ideas based on our requirement below.

1. We are looking for a place with excellent schools
2. Budget 550k budget but we can stretch a bit if needed
3. Minimum 3 bedroom house and around 1 hour commute to central london.
4. As our daughter is just 2 year old so man focus is primary school but should we keep grammar school also in mind or should we ignore now and its better to relocate again when the time comes?

Maybe consider Bedford? It's on a fast link to London. Until recently it has the 3 tier system but I understand it's being phased out.
£550K will leave you somewhat constrained closer to London.

If you want to keep grammar schools in mind then North Bucks would be an obvious place to start such as Aylesbury where prices are lower than places like Amersham and the Chalfonts but you are still in a grammar school county.
