Lantern above kitchen island...lighting?

We are having an extension with two big lanterns. Any advice on how to make the lighting work. One lantern will be over the dining table, the other over the kitchen island.

Presumably can’t hang pendants from a roof lantern?

I’ve seen an example recently where someone ran a painted white rectangular bar under and across the roof lantern in line with the rest of the ceiling so it looked like it flowed naturally . They ran electrics along the top of this and then had the pendant hang from there.
I can’t find the photo again unfortunately.

We have 3 or 4 single spotlights attached up by the lantern. Pendants in between the lanterns which is what we predominantly use though.
