Hi,
I am working out the best way to add floor space to detached house. The purpose is to increase the size of the bedrooms and add two en-suites and walk in wardrobes. Currently there is only the one house bathroom for four bedrooms. The house already has a kitchen extension around 300 sq.ft. There are two options - build above the existing double storey side extension along the depth of the house as the neighbours have done. Although the latter option gives less space upstairs than the former, as we would be gaining some living space downstairs.
The most obvious way to get better proportioned bedrooms with ensuites/wardrobes that I can see is to build above the existing single story extension. I know that I would need to check first if the single storey extension foundations are adequate.
I am wondering if there are any other points to think of. What would you do? And most importantly has anyone on here done this before? How much did you spend? I am not in London, in case that is relevant.
