Evening everyone.

I was quoted £200 for searches when I was buying a property on my own for £410k, that fell through and I'm now buying with my partner for £725k and have just been quoted £500?!

Are searches not all the same cost?

Depending on the location, different searches will be appropriate. Ask what searches are yo be performed and what you will learn from them.

Different searches depending on the area and property, also sometimes as stipulated by the lender

We have just paid £155 for searches for a £220k property in the midlands. Your quotes seem high but I'm unsure whether it varies on area/ property?

Thank you. They're both in West Sussex but different councils?

I think my solicitor has made a mistake as has already got the Land Registry charge wrong (quoting paper fee rather than electronic) and seems to have bumped up the search fees 😠
