Bogus Companies set up to claim green homes grant

Has anyone had any luck? I’m wondering if bogus companies have been set up with false claims about being able to obtain funding for the green homes grant.

I seem to leave details, never get contacted by an actual person and then lots of spam emails.

the scheme is a disaster, I'm afraid - same as the green deal. Way too many hoops to jump through rather than a simple obvious grant scheme.

why? I strongly suspect a) consultants and b) mates of the government!

sadly - forget it.

It's a dog's breakfast. I think the companies offering it are legit as they have to be Trustmark approved and PAS compliant but their prices are eye-watering. If you google the cost of loft insulation you will get prices well below £1k but one quote I got for a 2 bed det bungalow was £2604. The other quote was £1733. The door quotes are also excessive but it may be a better quality door. I have applied for vouchers as it will save me about £100 but that saving will cost the taxpayer £2300. Where is the £2300 going? Right where murblurb says I reckon. I guarantee you that in a few years time a Commons committee will hold an enquiry and find that the whole thing was a massive waste of taxpayer's money but no-one will be held accountable.

@ilikebungalows the problem for me is I can’t seem to find a company to come and quote at all. I think I will just leave it as it seems a complete waste of time. I honestly do think it’s a scam.

@LillyFlower1984 tbh I'm surprised you can't get anyone to come and quote at all. I managed to get quotes from 2, one was local and the other was about 20 miles away. I think a lot of people are having trouble getting quotes because there are relatively few firms who are qualified but I've read that new ones are always being added. I agree that in many ways it's a waste of time because of massive over charging so at least you're not missing out on much. I wonder whether eventually someone will twig that it ain't working and make some changes e.g Fensa registration being enough to get a grant for a door or windows but I'm not holding my breath.
