Just scrolling through Rightmove this morning and came across this gem (it's picture 11)....

Why worry about a wall between a kitchen and bathroom when you can make them open plan............!!!!!

That is really weird in an otherwise very traditional house.

Goodbye2020Helllo2021 · 17/02/2021 10:28

They’ve tried to make the first floor into a ‘self-contained’ space. Possibly for young adult or elderly relative.
The interior layout is a bit of a mess tbh.

MaryIsA · 17/02/2021 10:50

That seems very reasonable for where it is!

Jarstastic · 17/02/2021 11:06

Isn’t that illegal?

Jarstastic · 17/02/2021 11:07

I mean doesn’t conform to modern building regulations or even building regulations from even years ago?

MaryIsA · 17/02/2021 11:10

TBH it looks a bit like they've put a microwave and a kettle next to a sink. I think I'd have taken them out for the photos. It doesn't show as a kitchen on the plan.

That's what I'm thinking.
Toorapid · 17/02/2021 11:22

As bed sit type accommodation, for a single person, an adult child for example, it would work though?

Smallgoon · 17/02/2021 11:30

Butler's quarters...?

ekidmxcl · 17/02/2021 11:33

Don’t shit where you eat 🤣

Coolerthanapolarbearstoenails · 17/02/2021 11:41

They've just popped a mini fridge, kettle and microwave next to the sink.

There's obviously a work from home situation going on.

I would have removed it all for the pics but that's just me! They obviously cba.

Exhausteddog · 17/02/2021 11:53

But there is a sink next to the toilet as well...(as far as I can tell)

This looks like kind of a utility area/toilet (which in itself is no so unusual) ...but its unusual being on a top floor ...and they are clearly using it for cooking , which is not a pleasant thought.

Exhausteddog · 17/02/2021 11:54

It looks quite a spacious house, I can't believe there wasnt room anywhere else to set up a mini kitchen?

clairethewitch70 · 17/02/2021 12:00

Maybe someone has been shielding/isolating and have set up a self contained area?

noraclavicle · 17/02/2021 12:05

I can’t imagine why bathroom/toilet/kitchen isn’t marked on the floorplan Confused

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 17/02/2021 12:42

That bathroom/kitchenette thing is on the first floor. There’s a proper kitchen on the ground floor. If you look at the floor plans, it’s probably a home working or teenager/ lodger type situation.

GU24Mum · 17/02/2021 12:55

I know it's not the main kitchen, but I still wouldn't want to microwave my lunch in the same room as the toilet!!

But the poo germs flying all around the kitchen and into the microwave 😩💩
Why oh why!!

Suppose you can make a cuppa from the comfort of your bubble bath 💡 or stir your beans while you 💩

emmathedilemma · 17/02/2021 14:54

Oh but i do love a ready meal while I'm on the throne!
Bit random but my guess is that the top floor has been used as a granny flat type arrangement.
