Small en-suite ideas...

Does anyone have a tiny en-suite they're willing to share for inspiration?

We're having an extension built and the en-suite will be 1.4m x 1.3m. We haven't decided where the door will be or the layout yet.

Any recommendations?

Our en-suite is very slightly larger at 1.6 x 1.7 but it was rejigged by the previous owner to put in a massive walk in shower which means you walk straight into the basin so we're looking at redoing it soon.

I think a lot depends on where your toilet will need to go (normally on an outside wall), will there be any windows?

The toilet can go anywhere as it's close enough to the soil pipe.

There won't be any windows, which isn't ideal so we're thinking of a velux or skylight.

Ours is small but a different layout - 1m x almost 3m. Got lots of advice when we did it. Door opening into the bedroom (rather than the ensuite) will make a difference, or consider a pocket door. Look for compact / space saving fittings (Ideal Standard do some) and make it all clean lines / minimalist so it doesn't appear cluttered. We were also advised to have large format tiles (think ours are about 80cm wide) - we have the same wall and floor tiles to give the illusion of continuity etc. All white (other than tiles).

Pocket door is a really good idea. Think about storage. Wish we'd had a shelf built into the shower.

Wall hung toilet looks really clean and gives illusion of more space, we had a cabinet that was mirrored on the side as well to bounce a bit more light round and a unit under the sink that has a 'u shaped' drawer so you get 2 drawers. Again doesn't go all the way to the floor.

Big tiles make it look bigger.

We put a velux in our family bathroom and it transformed it - highly recommend it. It makes such a difference having daylight.
