We bought a second hand bed but some items are missing. I will email the company, but I was wondering if this is a standard part I could buy at a hardware store. Part K on this image. Diameter 16mm.

Can anyone identify this screw for me?

Maybe a cone point grub screw?

Brilliant, yes thank you I think so.

Another question - we could do with some of those metal cylinder things that you insert in a hole in the wood and then screw a screw through at a right angle.

What are those called?

I think in your second question, you are talking about a cam lock screw.

No, just image searched that, that's not the right thing. That's quite short and wide whereas what I'm thinking of is a longer, narrower cylinder.

I can probably draw a diagram :o

Sometimes they have a slot or cross on top to put a screwdriver in.

the nuts with the holes are Barrel Nuts I think.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 16/02/2021 20:46

yes, or cross dowels...

I googled barrel nuts and they came up with the cross dowels that look exactly the same

BertieBotts · 16/02/2021 20:47

Yes that looks like the right thing. Thank you so much! I don't know why they don't just say this on the parts list instead of unhelpfully calling them "k" and "m".

Bolt and barrel nut?

LeroyJenkinssss · 16/02/2021 20:48

Doh should refresh!

Seems like two names for the same thing. Doesn't matter - as long as I can google it and see if it can be ordered online. Hardware stores closed where we are :(
