So, currently doing up a house, it's an old house with loads of character that I don't want to lose. We are working out finishing details in the bathroom and the look I really like for it is unlacquered brass for the metal work. Brass itself is too shiny, DH doesn't want brushed brass but that could be the fallback, he really doesn't like chrome or nickel as they are too cold.
So, my question is, am I mad? Is it a nightmare to keep clean? My understanding is it needs polishing once a week but can be extended by rubbing down with linseed oil or similar? I'm happy with once a week as we will be cleaning it as usual so any metal would be polished as part of it, however if it was daily I may lose my mind and also be annoyed we opted for an expensive finish that may look dirty 90% of the time if not maintained.
Am I deluded and will I spend my life either polishing or looking the other way when I realise life is too short to polish??
