We move into this next week:

www.primelocation.com/for-sale/details/56680703

Obviously it needs some updating, but struggling to think of something for living room. The house is 1930 built, so we’re mixing in some Morris and Co etc. Wallpaper here and there.

I have spent several lifetimes on Pinterest looking for inspiration but the living room I’m struggling with.

The rooms are too big for Morris and Co wallpaper, that suits small cosy rooms. I like the living room as it is

It's a lovely house! Congratulations!

I know what you mean about the living room though. It's half country pub half granny chic at the moment isn't it! The open fireplace around the log burner is the main thing which jars in my opinion - if you're going for 1930's / Art Deco. Perhaps you could invest in a vintage fire surround with a mirror, such as the attached image, which would help it blend more with the style of the house?

As for the the rest of it I'd just pick one of your Mackintosh patterns for some cushions or a wall, and then choose some jewel tones from the same scheme to paint the walls with, and choose some gorgeous velvet furniture. Deco lighting, perhaps parquet flooring or something?

*Morris and co

@LockdownLocks oh you made me laugh! Country pub mixed with granny chic! So true.

The fireplace is something I am thinking about, but not for a while. I know it is the wrong era for the house, but we’re moving from somewhere with a big open fireplace, and do rather love it!

Thanks for ideas on colours etc.

Will you be keeping the flower behind the hob?

Congratulations! Not helpful but it's a great house with a fab garden!

We have a big lounge like that, with what could be seen as a natural divide. One half is tv/lounge, the other I have a cuddle chair with dark green and gold patterned paper and gold lamps, which is the reading corner. I have no idea what you would describe the style as I'm not very good at interiors 🙈

Oh yes - it's an absolutely gorgeous house, and the garden is to die for. I am very envious. Congratulations 🎉
