Finding a place to live with links to kings x or Euston?

Looking to get the 3/4 bedrooms and a garden, in a nice area near good schools for circa 400k.. . I understand this means leaving London! Gandparents live in Camden town so we'd need easy access into kings cross or Euston so we can stay in regular contact. Partner and I both work central but can work from home most of the time. Neither of us drive (yet!) So would need to be close to amenities and walking distance to the station. We have a DD (1 year old). Is this completely unrealistic or are there places that fit the bill out there? I grew up in Camden and we currently live in Stratford, east London. Open to suggestions! We are looking to sell in the next year potentially

Folkestone - superfast link to Kings cross, by the sea, affordable

Canterbury! 15mins from Whitstable and the sea, great schools, lots to do, beautiful surrounding countryside. Bit pricier than much of East Kent but doable on your budget.

Melbourn / Meldreth has things in that price range on Kings Cross line.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 17/02/2021 03:49

I wouldn't live in Melbourne or Meldreth if you don't drive. Royston is a possibility though

Check out areas on the East Coast train line. For example Newark is an hour away from KX but property is much cheaper than in London.

Milton Keynes. 50 mins into Euston. Could get a detached place with garden in a quiet location for your budget.

Milton Keynes is a good shout. Some of the fast trains are only 33 mins to Euston and although it’s a town built for cars, you can easily get around on busses / walking / cycling.

Milton Keynes has 3 stations the main one, Wolverton and Bletchley. There are small towns and villages surrounding MK worth checking out. Wolverton, Stony Stratford, Woburn Sands, the Brickhills, then there is Leighton Buzzard and surrou ding villages. All will be quite a change from london though.

Don't forget the Midland Main Line/Thameslink into St Pancras, and the HS1 line from Ashford/Ebbsfleet. For instance, somewhere like Bedford?

Canterbury. It's beautiful and a lot going on usually. I lived there for four years and it was really easy to get back to London on the high speed line. Plus it's acually appealling to come home to.

Long Buckby, Northampton. A village eith a station straight to Euston in about an hour.

Newark is an hour to Kings Cross and the houses are lovely and quite cheap.

Coventry is an hour to Euston and you would get a good house in a nice neighbourhood for that price.

Hitchin and Letchworth are both gorgeous towns with about a 25/30 minute train direct into Kings Cross.

Really pretty towns too
