Overselling a property on rightmove

The house is absolutely beautifully decorated. But surely potential buyers are not to overly concerned to read about all the design choices of the seller, especially since it will look a lot different once the furniture is gone?

Mumsnet; come for the parenting support. Stay for the cutting property reviews Grin.

wifterwafter · 14/02/2021 16:56

I don't like it at all, and for a log basket to be placed on top of a log burner is madness and the biggest fire hazard as it looks like it's on!

WhoStoleMyCheese · 14/02/2021 16:58

Pictures speak a thousand words - if you have to add a thousand more yourself you're overdoing it .
If I had that much money I'd spend 3/4 on the house and the rest hiring my OWN interior designer... that's the point of one isn't it to persoanlise it??? Why would i want a house done to someone else's taste

Poppins2016 · 14/02/2021 17:00

I rather like the advert and the house (despite the grey, which is usually a turn off)! It's lovely and characterful for a new build. Agree with the comments about the books, though... you need to be able to see the spines!

mywifi · 14/02/2021 17:01

@1frenchfoodie

All the books are spine to the wall, persumably for the aesthetics. Psychos.
This. I liked the house until I saw that. I suppose they don't want to admit they all they read is hello!
Poppins2016 · 14/02/2021 17:01

@CrazyFoxLady

Does a very tiny person wash the dishes? Hmm
@CrazyFoxLady

I have a step like that next to my kitchen sink in order for my tiny person (toddler) to wash their hands... no downstairs loo! Grin

trappedsincesundaymorn · 14/02/2021 17:04

He forgot to mention the very steep hills in the area, the traffic pollution and the fact that come March it's going to be clogged up with taxi's and other vehicles trying to avoid the clean air charges.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 14/02/2021 17:05

Its WAY over priced for a new build terrace with a small garden in Bath. No amount of fancy wallpaper will cover for that. And a fake woodburner - yuck.

MrsJamin · 14/02/2021 17:24

I think it's designed really badly actually, like the paintings just at the edge of the kitchen worktop and where the pictures are hanging by the doorway, someone doesn't have a very good eye. I like the panelling though and it doesn't look like a new build which is a good thing.

user85963842 · 14/02/2021 17:29

Well I guess they've got to try to make it sound like 1100sq ft is worth over £600,000.....

knittingaddict · 14/02/2021 17:43

Blimey, I'm a local, but even I'm shocked at the price of that house. That has got to be overpriced or I'm getting our house valued now.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 14/02/2021 17:52

I was puzzled by the books in Picture 6 too, but you can buy books by the metre to 'decorate' a restaurant or pub (remember them?) so I suspect that's what is going on here. Hmm

krustykittens · 14/02/2021 17:53

Fine & Country write utter bollocks and nothing useful in their brochures, they are awful!

BlankTimes · 14/02/2021 17:53

I agree with the book comments.

Picture 7, it looks as though the logburner is lit. If so that wicker basket with logs on top of it will burn!
Maybe the logburner is really an electric fire and all the wood is just part of the staging.

Pictures 2, 4 and 15, that tight leaf design wallpaper in the dining area and bedroom reminds me of the pattern featured on the chair and wall and curtains in Giles and Mary''s lounge on Gogglebox. I'm sure that's not the image the designer wanted to convey Grin

Candleabra · 14/02/2021 17:54

That is the most ridiculous marketing blurb I've ever read! Droning on and on....
The vendor has definitely insisted on all that information, I can just imagine the estate agent's resigned sigh.
It looks like someone has gone for it with the farrow and ball catalogue. All that fake wood panelling too.

SchwingLow · 14/02/2021 17:58

It's like a wallpaper catalogue. Picture nine of the house from the back garden shows the new build-ness but they've done a good job of making it look sumptuous.

Lulu1919 · 14/02/2021 18:02

Odd way of placing books on the bookshelves.....spines inwards !?!?

MariaAngustias · 14/02/2021 18:07

Bloody hell - is that what you pay for a 3 bed terrace in Bath? I must say though that they have done a lovely job with the decor - the books are a bit weird as is the basket on top of the log fire (guessing that log fire is not real... ). I thought I had no idea of decor but recently watched Grand Design Masters series 1 and thought all the designs were absolutely terrible. Whoever did this house has far better ideas in my inexpert opinion...

Clymene · 14/02/2021 18:11

God that is so much money for such a tiny house in a part of the world where there's not much going on.

Hate hate hate the books turned the wrong way round

Skythrill · 14/02/2021 18:13

Ooh interesting! I’ve seen this house on Instagram. I don’t use Instagram anymore so couldn’t tell you the name of the account but I remember this one because I could never figure out if it was a period property or a new build!
Personally I think the kitchen and bathrooms are divine!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 14/02/2021 18:15

@passtheorange

I like the wallpaper in the bathroom .

And what have they done to the books on the bookshelves? Why have they turned them all back-to-front? Weird.

Came on to talk about the books. Why would any normal person do that. No one who actually reads books surely? Grin
StanfordPines · 14/02/2021 18:17

Spines inwards is a thing. Why I don’t know, but it is.

gorillasinthemist · 14/02/2021 18:19

It's very pretty but the price seems ridiculous for a tiny new build. They've only lived there for 2 years so some of the blurb is nonsense given that they are moving so quickly.

AlwaysLatte · 14/02/2021 18:19

It's very nicely decorated and I like the style, but you can gush all you like - it's still overlooked and attached.

StanfordPines · 14/02/2021 18:19

If you look at the other properties from the same agents they are similar.
