Buying curtains

We are hoping to exchange contracts on a property in the next few weeks. Our vendor has asked us to make them an offer for the curtains in three of the rooms.

They are good quality and I like them. I don’t want to offend them but equally don’t want to pay over the odds. What would you offer?

Eek that's difficult! What are they made out of? What size are they? Are they unusual windows, would you need specially made curtains if you didn't buy theirs?

Unless you can see they are very expensive curtains , or they are floor to ceiling , wide ones , or still very new £20 a room ?
When we moved , our curtains were made to measure , full lengh, nice design etc . Didn't charge our buyers , not for the light fixtures . I tend to look at houses prices in that area . Last year saw our old house was on the market again and was surprised to see the curtains and lights were still in situ .
We sold the house 10 years ago !

And the carpets were still the same.

It’s really hard to say without knowing if they were custom made, off the shelf from Harrods from expensive fabric, or Dunelm!

Have they filled in fixtures and fittings form? What have they said in there?
And what about the fixtures?

Last form I filled in I stated fixtures aren’t included but if they pay for them ill include the curtains for free. However, I didn’t spend thousands on the curtains like some of my friends.

things aren't necessarily worth what people paid in the past.

I've got two rooms each with two sets of lovely thick smart curtains, big windows. £30 a room because they came from charity shops.

offer that. Business transaction so no need to worry about offence. Unless the new house has very similar windows they are wasting their time taking them.

Thanks everyone. It seems to be more a thing to include curtains now. I have taken curtains in the past but never used them! The curtains in the new house are C&H custom made- not sure of fabric. Will make an offer as per suggestions.
