Can I do building survey and structural engineer report together?

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of buying a Share of Freehold flat. I'm planning to do some small alteration (moving an internal wall), which will require co-freeholder consent. I hope to do it before we move in.

My very naive question is, is it possible to do the structural engineer report for the alteration plan together with the building survey to hopefully save some time and cost? Or are they two very different process and done by different professional?

Thank you!

Generally they will be different people.

It's possible that there are some general buildings surveyors who are also qualified structural engineers, but it's pretty rare in my experience.
