Where in England could I get a nice, 3 bedroom house, not too teeny, in a nice suburban area, suitable for a young family?
With a 200k budget????

Most of Yorkshire.

Iseeyoulookingatme · 05/02/2021 08:08

Staffordshire moorlands, the Peak District has some lovely houses and beautiful views.

Hoppinggreen · 05/02/2021 09:00

Parts of west Yorkshire
Huddersfield, Halifax,

WhatAreWordsWorth · 05/02/2021 09:04

The north west. Lots of areas... Wirral, Warrington, Sandbach, Northwich etc.

Moneyfornothingkerbsforfree · 05/02/2021 09:13

Pretty much nowhere in the South of England, I know that.

InescapableDeath · 05/02/2021 09:54

I have some relatives in Sunderland who bought a three bed for that price recently for their young family. Not sure on area though.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 05/02/2021 09:56

The North east:- Whickham/Low Fell/North Shields/around Newcastle Airport/Chester-le-Street.

Maybe Levenshulme www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/77460741#/

Although houses have been selling fast for over the asking prices a lot here

Africa2go · 05/02/2021 10:08

Depends what you want. Its not right to say nowhere in the South of England. Its probably right though that properties for £200k in parts of Kent for example might not be in quite as nice areas as a £200k property somewhere in say the North East.

Blackpool.....and this one has FIVE bedrooms. Parts of the town are deprived.....but north side (where this is) is fine.

Aiaiaicorona · 05/02/2021 13:03

Lots of Lancashire, north/north west/west of Manchester (outside ringroad), Yorkshire, north east, Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire, some parts of Cheshire, Wirral.

IMissFrance · 05/02/2021 13:04

Certainly not Surrey. Sad

Wales though!

mariahgiselle · 07/02/2021 08:12

Some parts of the north east, but won’t be the best areas (for many reasons some schools, some lack of transport etc.) and you’ll probably be compromising on garden/box room etc.

nightscreams · 07/02/2021 08:24

Lots of the Midlands.

CheckMate2021 · 07/02/2021 09:22

Lots of places in the north west. Do you have a preferred area?

InescapableDeath · 07/02/2021 12:25

Oooh Formby in the North West has some under 200k. Good links to Liverpool/Southport, small town feel, can walk to the beach from some parts. I looked up Formby as that's where I'm from and it's a very specific town (ie doesn't merge into a grim bit of city or anything) but you could look at Ainsdale (more houses in that price brack, it's a bridging area to Southport, not that much going on there as far as I can remember) or Crosby (but the nice Crosby bit, not Waterloo).

CoronaIsWatching · 07/02/2021 13:43

Saltaire

40somethingJBJ · 07/02/2021 22:07

Derbyshire. I’ve got a 3 bed in a nice village (well, I think it is!) which is worth about £170k, so for £200k you could get something really nice.

TierFourTears · 07/02/2021 22:12

Nice bits of Teesside are in that budget (and yes, nice bits do exist up there)

DavidsSchitt · 07/02/2021 22:18

NoWordForFluffy · 07/02/2021 22:23

@InescapableDeath, there's bugger all going on in Ainsdale. It's kind of no man's land! Especially if you're in the bit close to Woodvale!

If you come closer to Southport you can get something in Birkdale, which is a) closer to Southport and b) has a bit more going for it than Ainsdale.

MaverickDanger · 07/02/2021 22:26

I live in the South, in a nice market town 30 mins train from a big city & just over 90 mins to London. Lots of countryside and

Serin · 07/02/2021 23:01

Shrewsbury

lowbudgetnigella · 08/02/2021 01:00

In West Yorkshire, in lovely town/village semi rural , good links to Leeds /Bradford. Most of areas round here that would get you 3 bed with garden but not massive.
