Response time from estate agents

Hi

We have had our house on the market for about a month now. The original estate agent we put it on the market with has left and the bloke who has taken over his patch seems to take ages to response to emails and calls. I’ve had to chase him up everytime I’ve got in contact.

What would you say was a reasonable amount of time for an estate agent to respond to a call or email?

I’m wondering if the original estate agent was really good and has spoilt my expectations

I'd expect a same day reply to be honest, unless you contacted them mid-late afternoon. But either way, definitely by the end of the next business day.

How long are they taking at the moment?

I’ll let you know. Emailed him on Friday afternoon and have yet to receive a reply. Other times when I’ve emailed him I’ve got fed up waiting and rang him. Rang him, left a couple of messages then after no return call for a few hours I emailed a colleague to say could someone get in touch. After I sent that he replied within the hour

My worry is if he’s that rubbish getting back to me then how bad is he about getting back to potential buyers

Ours would reply within the hour, if they couldn't answer the specific query right away then they'd say that would get back to me, but always an acknowledgement.

That's rubbish. An enquiry made Friday should not still be unanswered on Tuesday. If it was a situation where they were reliant on someone else for information, they could at the very least come back to you to let you know. Like you, i'd be worried they were the same with potential buyers.
