Non standard construction roof help

I’m hoping to by an end terrace 1960’s townhouse.

There are 5 houses in the terrace all with pitched roofs but they are in the same material as a flat roof and not tiled.

The survey has shown that in the attic where trusses and timbers would normally be wood, it’s metal and impossible to see what if anything is between the metal and the outer material. The surveyor has pointed out that this type of roof could be a problem and cause maintenance issues.

I’ve googled and googled but can find nothing on pitched roofs in this style just flat roofs. Does anyone have any experience?

I would ask your surveyor for more details. You may have to pay for a proper report solely on the roof but worth asking for advice.

Thanks, we went for a full structural survey and the surveyor is definitely concerned about the roof, but it’s hard to establish how much of that concern is because it’s non-standard construction and how much is because it will be a definite issue.

He’s covering the company. It could do this or that but equally it could not.
Has it caused any maintenance issues in the last 60 years?

It’s not usual to use metal roof construction in residential homes. You see them all the time in industrial buildings of course. I’ve attached some info which wasn’t difficult to find. Wood is better and metal requires maintenance. I would want to know about the condition of it and the roof above plus insulation. Is the roof construction suitable for the end of terrace regarding supporting the roof?

Hard to tell if it’s caused maintenance issues, vendor of house is not exactly forthcoming and tried to lie about having building regs on some work they’d done so I wouldn’t trust their word anyway, which is annoying.

I might maybe ask the neighbours but not sure how much they’d appreciate a random person knocking on their door, especially at the moment.

The surveyor should have noticed rust. If there’s no rust and it’s sound I wouldn’t worry. I would be concerned about lack of insulation. What did the surveyor say about that?

There’s slight corrosion on some of the metal in the report, tiny spots not large patches.

I’m not sure what they said about insulation will re-read
