How to hide under sink pipes

We have a lovely 90s bathroom, which we can't afford to do up for a few years. The main problem is that as soon as you walk into the bathroom you can see the pipes under the sink. I have looked at an under basin storage unit but the pedestal is too far away from the wall (see pic). Any good ideas or is it just going to have to be a big plant?

A vanity unit, sink combo ?

Box it in, but it will look wrong. Otherwise you need a bigger pedestal or new unit

That’s poor job in the first place , the pipes could go down inside the pedestal , or higher up in to the wall, but someone has just done that for an easy life. For a quick fix you could maybe box it in ? Put a panel ( wood ? ) each side level with the pedestal and paint it the same as the bathroom. ?

Did anyone else read this and think it was a request for hide and seek tips? Grin

Yes, a cheap job! The previous owners did not like to spend any money...unfortunately, it isn't all so bad yet that we can justify the cost of ripping it all out.

I think most people wouldn’t actually notice it.... they will however notice a massive plant shoved under the sink

Chumleymouse · 31/01/2021 10:42

Yes , one of our bathrooms is a lot worse than that , but I don’t have the time to do it, too much other stuff to do . I’m not sure how someone thought it would be a good idea to shower next to the boiler. 😂

The boilers gone now.

Chum...I like that bathroom... think it might be back in trend!

Check out the other one, it’s gone now but it was corker. Avocado anyone ?

I know you said the pedestal was too far away from the wall but it looked quite generous

Mrsladybirdface · 31/01/2021 18:32

Thanks Badly, our pedestal is 33cms away from the wall unfortunately.

I have purchased a habitat small cupboard to sit next to it, so that should cover it!

On a plus not, we managed to remove all the tiles off the side of the bath and Dh has replaced the hideous cheaper than cheap 90s taps and is now currently painting the whole bathroom. It already looks a million time better...we have probably spent £250 but it has given it an amazing uplift!

What about a low stool with folded towels (or a small plant)?

Me Blush. And every time I see this in Active threads I have to re-read the title...

I did, and part of my brain is still working on how to squeeze myself into cupboard under kitchen sink.

Under sink curtain?

BruceAndNosh · 01/02/2021 10:45

I have similar but not as obvious.

murbblurb · 01/02/2021 17:01

Nice and easy to reach the stop valves if needed, boxing them in would be stupid. Stick a plant in front if it bothers you.

A hyphen in the title would have made this thread much clearer (but also not as interesting!) 😂
