How do they work? Does you just agree a price with your buyer and start the process of conveyancing?

We are thinking of selling our house privately but are struggling to work out how to get it values given we currently live abroad and I don't want to inconvenience my tenants with agents.

Have you done it and if so how did it work out? Were there any sticking points or things you wish you'd known before?

We would stay in the same town but really need another bedroom and a bit more living space with 3 kids, so it's either another £150,000 to move to a new house with an extra bedroom or pay that to do a loft conversion and extend. I have no idea what to do for the best!

Just bought a house privately. they got a few agents in for valuations (obv didn't tell them they were selling privately). It was a pretty straight forward sale as we were keen buyers who were chain free.

Once we agreed the price we just contacted the lawyers and they did the rest. We exchanged numbers and created a whatsapp group to update each other on the latest activities. it was pretty easy and straight forward but if it is a difficult sale/inexperienced buyers it may be easier to have an agent to push things through.
