WWYD - do you I just have to put it down to experience?

If you pay a plumber, for 4 visits and various parts, to fix your central heating and then discover the very next day after supposedly they've fixed it and you've paid them, that they actually haven't fixed the fault at all, would you put it down to experience or contact them to try and get some money back?

It certainly doesn’t hurt to contact them to try and get the money back, but if after several attempts you get nowhere, I’d then chalk it up to experience.
We all get mugged off one time or another.

I have been in your shoes. I rang someone every day for 3 months. They ignored my calls. I gave up.

thanks Rules and sorry to hear about your experience.

I do feel a bit 'mugged off' although I can't quite believe he has done it deliberately.

He and DH are a member of the same sports club; we even have a few mutual friends.

It seems weird. Unless he's planning on retiring soon and so doesn't care about his reputation any more Confused

I'd get him back in and say it's still not working

Happytodayhappytomorrow · 27/01/2021 17:08

I can’t do that as I’d lost all faith in him and I got somebody else round who diagnosed it within about 10 seconds, fixed it and it’s been working fine since.
Second guy couldn’t quite believe what the first guy had done.

How much are you down?

RuggeryBuggery · 27/01/2021 17:22

I think it’s tricky now to ask for money back if you didn’t give him a chance to come back and fix it again for free. But can see that you would have been reluctant to do that if you lost confidence in him.
