New windows - do yours match everywhere including extension?

We are getting new windows as our current ones are horrible old things.

We are finding it hard to get windows that match the windows in the extension we're planning. Does everyone match the house windows throughout or mix-and-match a bit?

Ok, dumb question time - why not get all the windows done at the same time as the extension? Let the builders sort it

We’re going for vastly different, but also in the design of the extension to show the difference from the outside! So our house is brick with sash windows but the extension will be wood clad with big double glazed probably with a grey frame.

Not a dumb question at all @Loofah01. We just can't face waiting until after the design, planning and tendering stages to get the windows sorted. We can barely see out for condensation and don't get me started on the cold. I do realise it'll be Spring before they're here of course.

Hi @mangocoveredlamb - that's similar to what we've been thinking, i.e. make it obvious it's not matching on purpose. But every so often we get cold feet Grin

Nope, I'm going for upvc on back. Wooden sash lookalikes are on front. I like them, but dont feel the rear needs to match as its not same period.
