Bit of a long shot but I don’t suppose anyone knows how busy Upper Hale Road is in Upper Hale, Farnham?

Seen a lovely house but it’s right on the road and it’s difficult to judge given there’s less traffic due to Covid.

It's fairly busy, but traffic isn't fast moving at all, too many traffic lights and junctions! Also not too busy of a night time, it's mostly day traffic.

I know that area Bean - just checked on the map to make sure I'm remembering it correctly, and I'll caveat this by saying that I haven't driven there for a good 5 years!

It is fairly busy and can get sticky around the lights when rush hour exists - it's not a fast road and I doubt there's much in the way of heavy traffic (as in haulage), but in terms of volume I'd say it was reasonably busy in normal times.

I've just asked DH who has lived around that area most of his life, and I'm afraid he said he wouldn't like to live on that road.

But it takes all sorts!

@Theboots @HandyBendySandy Thank you both, that’s really helpful!

Such a dilemma!

It’s a busy road. It’s a pain to drive along, as cars park along the road and you’re waiting for the opposite side to be empty in order to proceed. There are some cute cottages near the church and some small new builds that look quite nice. I wouldn’t choose to live on the road due to noise and air pollution

DobbieFreeElf · 23/01/2021 21:08

I’ve already used that route as a rat run from to the M3/ M4, as I think many others do. It’s not particularly fast but I would suggest a constant flow of traffic and busy during school run/ peak times

I used to live in Upper Hale when I was a teenager (so about 30 years ago!) DParents still live in the village though but on the Trinity Hill part. It's a fairly busy road as I remember and I wouldn't like to live on it.

ifancyagreencard · 23/01/2021 21:28

OP has the house you're considering got parking? If not, I'd be thinking twice, as on road parking will be a bitch on Upper Hale Road

trilbydoll · 23/01/2021 21:35

Is it one of the houses that have the front door right on the pavement? I always think how awful it would be to live in one of those, sorry Blush

Bean92 · 23/01/2021 21:49

@ifancyagreencard yes it has plenty of parking, that was an absolute non-negotiable.

@trilbydoll not quite but almost, there’s a wall with a hedge behind between the house and the pavement so a bit more private.

Thank you everyone, looks like it might be too much of a compromise sadly.
