Architect fees

Hi

I am looking to start a remodel project, which reconfigures the layout of the entire downstairs including garage conversion and extending first floor over existing ground floor extension.
Does anyone have experience of using architects to manage this from start to finish. If so, how were the coats broken up, i.e how to draw up plans and submit planning application, how much for the rest.
I am not too sure if I want to spend the fees of full project management but I have no idea of cost so maybe some experience share on here will help.

The fees should be broken up according to the RIBA Plan of Work stages. You should have the option to pay for the stages separately. Many architects have an overview on their website - I've included some links, no experience of using them but they have some information online that might be useful:
