Lighting question - technical query

Hi there,
we have a weirdly placed light fitting just behind our front door in the hall. It's not centred (which kills me) and we really need another light at the other end of the hallway too. It occurred to me that we could get one of those light fittings with 3 long cords and hook them to the ceiling at various points down the hallway ceiling, maybe using those rather nice bulbs with fancy filaments. SO, do these fittings exist, and what are they called? It doesn't have to be too flash so would be happy not spend too much. If we bought one of these fittings, can we fix it ourselves, or would we need to get an electrician in?
Thanks for any help or suggestions :)

loads come up if you google "light fittings with bulb on strings"

and imo if you can rewire a plug and put up a shelf you can replace a light fitting

the wiring from the house has to be connected to the fitting in the correct order (black/neutral, red /live, earth/green and yellow) with the light circuit isolated from the mains. (i always make sure ALL the power is off though) so you need to be confident to do that

the light fitting itself will probably have a blue neutral instead of black

and if it is heavy, you may need to locate a joist and secure the fitting to that....actually that may be why it is off centre, if it is heavy.

Ooh you are clever @LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow this is just what I'm after. Ideally I only need 3 strings and I'd like to spend an awful lot less, but do you see what I mean? It does look a bit spider like now I come to look at it though Hmm.
