Finding out how long a house has been on market

I viewed a house yesterday and the agent was very cagey about how long it has been in the market. On Rightmove it says that the price was reduced a week ago but prior to that I don't know. I can try asking another agent at the same agency but it would be so much easier if this information was just out there!

Does anyone know if there's a way of finding out online, rather than having to speak to the (slightly unfriendly) agents?

I'd like to know the answer to this to!

See if the listing is on Zoopla - they usually have the date of the first listing and then any price reductions (scroll to the bottom for 'Price history').

It's not on zoopla!
Annoying because yes they do show when properties were first listed. Will check onthemarket.

It's on onthemarket but they don't give details of when first listed either Envy

Have you tried searching on home.co.uk? They have first listed dates.

dizzyupthegirl86 · 16/01/2021 20:26

Is it a local estate agent or a chain? Some of the local ones by me list new ones on Facebook!

ScrumpleApples · 16/01/2021 20:27

Thanks HoppyHop - hadn't heard of that one but just checked and it's not listed on there unfortunately.

I'm going to have to pin the agent down aren't I!

Local agent, DizzyUp, but no they don't list on FB :(

If it's not on Zoopla just search the address on line to see where it has been advertised before.

ScrumpleApples · 16/01/2021 20:43

It looks like it's only on Rightmove and OnTheMarket

I think Home gives you this sort of information, or used to anyway: www.home.co.uk/

ScrumpleApples · 16/01/2021 20:51

Yay! Thanks Comtesse - Home says it's been "indexed" since 4th December. Assume that means listed! It's also been reduced this month which strikes me as quite soon to reduce the price. Was Thinking of making a low offer as we are proceedable and don't need mortgage so might go in our favour.

Thank you again 🙏

You should install the chrome extension called "Property Log":

Property Log is a Google Chrome Extension that works with the Rightmove website to show the price change history of a property. Please note, we are in no way affiliated with Rightmove and this is a 3rd party extension.
