shutters and noise

We live on a main road - quite set back but our bedroom is at the front of the house and the traffic in the morning disturbs DH (it does not bother me at all). We already have double glazing. Our house is early victorian with sash windows and we are thinking of investing in shutters to help reduce the noise (also I like the look of them). Has anyone found that they are effective (or not) at reducing noise? Any tips? Thanks

We had them in a Victorian house on the front , it didn’t make any difference to the noise level.

We have secondary glazing and find it effective at reducing noise .
