Looking for some inspiration and also an idea of costs of a renovation project. I am in the process of buying an 80s house which hasn’t been touched for some time. It is livable but basically needs a full returb to modernise it. I am looking to have the work done, no DIY and the house will be empty while the work is done. List includes, garage conversion, adding detached double garage, open up downstairs to open plan, new kitchen, make utility room bigger, add 2 en-suites, full decoration, new driveway and landscaping.
Looking for stories and inspiration from others who have taken on major remodelling projects, what work did you do, and how much did it cost you. Did you add extra floor space, any hints or tips on cost saving, any watch outs. Thanks.

I doubled the size of a bungalow, loft conversion to follow; was a derelict place requiring pretty much everything.

Be selective with the builders! Make sure you get full breakdowns and you're specific on the finish level you expect. Make the final payment at least 10% so they have incentive to complete snagging promptly
