Looking for some inspiration so interested in where you'd buy if you had £800K to spend on a four-bedroom family home near a good secondary school in the South East?

St Albans - prob would get a 3-4 bed semi for that

Somewhere around Guildford or Farnham. Maybe Wokingham.

Bouncebacker · 12/01/2021 21:26

Oxford
SW London (Kind of Kingston way at a stretch)
Winchester

Winchester

Thame in Oxfordshire. Lovely market town with good facilities, very good secondary school (Lord Williams’s) and plenty of lovely houses. You’d get something very nice for 800k. Plus easy commute to London if you need it from the local station, Haddenham and Thame Parkway. £800k would get you something like this:

I've been on a few of these threads but I'll say it again anyway...

...I'm in Oxfordshire, near excellent schools in beautiful countryside. 800K would get you a lovely big 4 bed detached house in our village.

Possibly somewhere like this in Tunbridge Wells? Pretty, good schools, good shopping around the Pantiles, and commutable to London if needed.

QuothTheSlothNevermore · 12/01/2021 23:04

Just realised that one's an auction property, will probably break the budget a bit!

QuothTheSlothNevermore · 12/01/2021 23:07

Maybe something like this one?

MedusaElectronica · 12/01/2021 23:16

West Norwood (Dunraven catchment)
Herne Hill (Charter catchment)

Chicchicchicchiclana · 12/01/2021 23:16

I would buy in London assuming you include London in "south east". New Cross, Penge or Anerley maybe.

QuothTheSlothNevermore · 12/01/2021 23:29

800K probably won't get you much in London though, in anywhere really nice a 4 bed house would cost loads more, especially if it's close to a decent secondary school. Depends what's more important. Maybe around Dunraven or Graveney schools if you look hard and don't mind giving a little on space?

Was also going to say St Albans, easy commute to London and the schools are generally great.

Very, very close to Dame Alice Owens.
