New house.... new dishwasher! Any you would recommend? Freestanding, full-size, stainless steel. And quiet!

We can see this thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best dishwasher page with plenty of great options, tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

We've always bought Miele dishwashers/washing machine fridge etc but recently I thought they were not as good as they used to be. Our new house has a virtually brand new Neff fully integrated full size. I've changed my mind Miele may be expensive but they are worth every penny.

Miele are SO expensive. What makes them great?

Hotpoint for me. They last the longest - left one at my old place that was nearly 20 years old and working perfectly.

My miele broke down about a week after the warranty ended. If you get one, make sure you get an extended guarantee. I replaced it with a smeg and it is so quiet that I can't tell if it's on.

Samsung - no complaints so far - freestanding and stainless steel, bought from AO.

Next time I don't care but I want one that shines a light on the floor to tell me it's finished! Friend has one and I have envy!

Bosch, Bosch and Bosch! An appliance repair man told me that he never got called out for Bosch machines (on his third visit to our second Smeg... never again). I have had loads of different ones over the years but our Bosch cleans better and just WORKS.

The name 'SMEG' just puts me off them! It sounds like a childish insult to me Grin. I'm looking for a new dishwasher too - can't afford Miele but looking at Hotpoint or Bosch. My problem is that the space is for an integrated machine (free standing ones will stick out and block a drawer opening) but don't have the door for the integrated space! Will an integrated machine without a door look weird?

All the integrated ones we've had would look odd without the door front... Plus it doesn't have a handle/pull bit as they're designed to work with a door that does.

I dream of the fisher & paykel dishwasher drawers 💕

I had a Bosch dishwasher that was crap; I eventually got a refund as it couldn't be fixed. I wouldn't have another one.

Miele last forever so they work out to be the cheapest option, mine is 20 years old, my parents has outlived them and my brother has it, about 445 years old.

Watching with interest as I need a new one. I moved into a house with an ancient one that takes 2.5 hours!! So I never use it.

I'm basically just dreaming of the ones with short cycles. I would buy anything if it just took 30 minutes!

Bosch. Virtually all my appliances bar fridge are Bosch. Good quality and nowhere near as expensive as Miele

I think ours is Hotpoint but the amazing thing about it is it has a 25 minute cycle which still gets everything completely clean. It's great for when you're doing a big dinner for lots of people (in pre-covid days obviously) because you can load it up after a course, and then it'll be done by the time you've finished the next one. I'm evangelical about it.

Miele lasts forever my washing machine and fridge are over 8 years old very well used including the dreaded horse rugs, the washing machine stopped spinning a few months ago Miele came out charged me £120 and fixed it said it would be good for another 10 years, the dishwasher is used at least once a day never had a days trouble the plates etc always come out clean unless I load to badly which is more than I can say for the NEFF.
We did buy a Miele fridge it broke after 3 years (which is when I began to think they weren't all the used to be), Miele asked me to pay £250 and replaced it with a £2000 brand new one even though the broken one was outside of its guarentee they said it should have last 10+ years easily.

Last time our Indesit broke I finally persuaded DH against the cheap replacement. We got a Bosch “Serie 2 Silence Plus”. Been very impressed. Although it doesn’t beep when it’s finished it turns itself off (after having a house fire with an electrical item I find this very reassuring). It’s quiet and efficient at cleaning so far.

Bosch, and a fairly simple one. The more fancy they are, the more they have to go wrong.

Don’t bother- I sold ours because I hated it so much. A brilliant idea but terrible design.

I've had a basic Bosch dishwasher 3 times - twice branded Bosch, one as Neff.

It worked well in all properties and none of them ever broke down.
My parents have also had Bosch for about 20 years with minimal hassle.

My next property came with a hotpoint. It was totally and utterly shit. Never again.

I now have a mid range miele - it's lovely, and very quiet.

is it worth 2.5 x as much.... not sure.

I love my F&P double drawers, but we are empty nesters (+ adult daughter for now). A splurge but makes me very happy.

Our previous was a Siemens, current one bought recently is a Bosch (they are the same company). Both were stainless steel fronted, the Siemens was 15+ yrs old before it gave up the ghost, it's replacement the Bosch is a few months old but so far I'm pleased with it. The link is our current one

Very happy with our Bosch. It's a slimline in white so obviously not the model you'll want. Quite a simple one, just a knob to pick from three programs and a speedup button. But cleans well and very quiet. When it was new it was so quiet I felt comfortable running it in the night, no way would it disturb anyone. Seems to have gotten a little noisier with age. About 6 or 7 years now and the only time it needed fixing was when a bit of metal fell off a spoon handle and jammed in the drain pump.

(Unimpressed with our Bosch washer-dryer, on the other hand. It's a clothes wrecker.)
