Are the next announcements going to stop house moves?

Everything the general public says will never happen tends to happen!!.... lockdown 1,2,3, cancelling Christmas, closing schools etc do we think if things continue at this rate there is a chance all movement is stopped unless essential???

Not sure they can do this unless they extend the stamp duty holiday.

House moves are fairly safe tbh. You pack up and stay out of the way while the removals folk arrive and empty your house like a plague of locusts and deposit it at new place.

You give your old place a good clean and clean all the bathrooms and the kitchen thoroughly at the new place - which you would anyway surely? Also all door knobs and handles.

Everyone to wear masks.

No contact key drop off. Disinfect the keys upon collection!

I should say we moved just before Christmas and followed the above.

Nah, it wasn't a thing on the first lockdown

First lockdown house viewings weren't allowed, removals companies couldn't work (this was before all safeguarding had come in) and lenders were pulling offers left right and centre so the market started to slow way way down. This time around there are more safeguarding measures in place. There is still some tricky ground (I.e what would happen if you or your buyer/seller tested positive the day before completion so therefore had to self isolate and couldn't leave the property they were in?) A lot of contracts now though include a 'covid clause' to protect if something happens between exchange and completion. Personally I think if stricter measures are brought in, they will affect plenty of other things way before it becomes impossible to move home.
