Do you think this house has kerb appeal?

Or what could be improved?

Thanks

I’d have a pot with plants by the front door, but I like seeing plants each time I go in and out of the house.

Hoppinggreen · 08/01/2021 08:51

It’s very red isn’t it?
First thing I would do it put a row of (not red) plants in pots under that window.

Poppins2016 · 08/01/2021 08:51

Hmm. Needs some greenery. Nice big pots with some large plants or even better, dig up some of the driveway!

ohidoliketobe · 08/01/2021 08:52

Looks neat, tidy and fucntional. Certainly not off-putting. A few potted plants would brighten things up, but (if it's yours) depends if you can be bothered!

tinkerbell2021 · 08/01/2021 08:54

That red drive would need to go if I bought it, especially when the house has brown windows/ doors and garage.

MilkMoon · 08/01/2021 08:54

Plants to break up the expanse of red brick and red drive.

timetest · 08/01/2021 08:55

I’d soften all that red with some large potted plants. It looks a decent family house.

wowfudge · 08/01/2021 08:55

The photo is half red imprinted concrete by the look of things. I'd put a planter under the window with a couple of taller things either side - spiral evergreens shouldn't be too expensive - and something in pots either side of the front door. And get the EA to take a front on photo of the house that puts less emphasis on the drive.

Disfordarkchocolate · 08/01/2021 08:55

I think it's OK but it's not inviting. The drive takes up too much room and is too red for my tastes. I would be investing in quite a few pot and troughs to add some colour and break up the shape of the drive.

Aethelthryth · 08/01/2021 08:55

Paving over the garden makes it look hard and stark. I'd struggle to get past that

PodgeBod · 08/01/2021 08:56

Yes, looks neat and tidy and in good condition

caringcarer · 08/01/2021 08:56

I am not a fan of brown double glazing or garage doors. Other than that my house looks similar plus rest of estate. A few hanging baskets in summer and possibly plant large green tree/shrub. We have got one of those things from Tenerife and it grows up by side of house with large green leaves and in early summer has very nice scent. Some kind of a Palm I think. I would keep block.psbing as good to park on.

HasaDigaEebowai · 08/01/2021 08:58

Take the photo from a different angle so there is less of the driveway showing. Personally I would have left gaps for planting when planning the driveway. In the absence of these you will need to use planters and pots to soften the look, particularly at the point where the driveway meets the wall.

Els1e · 08/01/2021 08:59

It looks well maintained but bland. I agree with others and think it needs some added greenery to break up the terracotta.

TT23 · 08/01/2021 09:04

I can't tell if it's attached or detached by this photo. I also wouldn't highlight the red driveway as it's not attractive. Throw in some large potted plants or trees for sure.

RoganJosh · 08/01/2021 09:07

Take a photo when the drive isn’t wet, so it’s less bright.
It’s fine though, but a few pots with mini conifers in would improve it.

SoupDragon · 08/01/2021 09:11

Pretty much what everyone else has said - it doesn't have the opposite of kerb appeal but it's very red and could do with softening with plants.

PresentingPercy · 08/01/2021 09:12

The drive needs landscaping. Hopefully not with a palm tree or small pots! It needs sections digging up and planted with, say, grasses and evergreen small shrubs. Something for year round interest. It’s easy enough to see what you could do on gardening web sites. This would tone down the red.

Paint the windows white and get wooden garage doors. It’s a decent enough house like thousands of similar ones all over the country. A retro pastiche. But it can be improved with money spent on it!

PattyPan · 08/01/2021 09:12

No, there’s too much brick. It desperately needs some plants!

RainbowRaine · 08/01/2021 09:15

The driveway looks like it could become an ice skating rink in colder weather.

Thighdentitycrisis · 08/01/2021 09:16

I think you posted about this before, still undecided?

Lampzade · 08/01/2021 09:22

Definitely some greenery. Too much red paving
Photo should be taken when it’s not raining
Change the door

tenlittlecygnets · 08/01/2021 09:23

I don't like the lock block paving. Could be softened by adding plant pots or hanging baskets. The house is very brown -I'd like to paint the window frames.

AbbeyBelfast · 08/01/2021 09:23

It looks a bit dated and tired because of the drive and the brown upvc windows

unfortunateevents · 08/01/2021 09:41

That's an awful lot of red brick and nothing living! Are you selling or buying? I would put several large pots with shrubs or trees in to break it up. I think it also depends on how the surrounding houses are presented, if they have lots of grass and flowers it is going to show up unfavourably.
