New build paint?

We've been in our new build a year now. It's a Taylor wimpy property. I'm confused as on our paperwork it states we should wait 2 years to paint, however our next door neighbour only has to wait 1. We also have family who moved onto a Taylor wimpy estate and theirs said 1 year as well.

With a toddler, dog and cat the white walls are becoming grubby and a pain!

How long did you all wait?

NHBC says it takes around 9 months to dry out. Have you noticed the slight cracking? I’d just go ahead now and start painting.

Our extension stopped getting fine cracks in just under two years. Having said that it wasn't decorated white so we were not in any rush to redecorate.

I would personally wait the two years unless you like decorating. However, I find with a decent trade emulsion you can paint over marks or cracks and it doesn't show at all

We painted our master bedroom immediately after getting the keys - but if any snagging work would be needed eg filling cracks or such, the builder wouldn't do redecorating to our chosen colours. It was fine for us, I wouldn't have risked it with £100 a roll wallpaper but for a tin of paint it wasn't a huge deal!
