Bathroom design - help please!

We have just started work on our bathroom. It has been desperately needed for a couple of years now and finally getting there after doing a large extension and big bedroom modifications over the past few years.

I have a bit of a dilemma about how to arrange the bathroom. My original plan was to replace the bath with a large walk in shower, but my children are not impressed with that idea 🙄.

So, I need to decide whether to have a small walk in shower in addition to the biggish bath, or whether to just go with cheaper option of a shower over the bath and larger sink and toilet on the wall where the shower would go.

We already have a large walk-in shower in the downstairs bathroom that I love, so I much prefer this option to an enclosure... but do we need another one and would a shower in a bath be just as good?

Here is my current bathroom plan idea. Any further input would be much appreciated? Thanks

I honestly think that's a great layout - my only suggestion might be to consider a corner toilet, just because it feels nicer to be facing out into the room than staring at the sink!

The shower is a good size, that's a natural place for the bath and sink.

The only thing you don't have is a mirror - but then I'm not a fan of cabinets over the sink (breakages of things dropping out of it/into the sink), and much prefer looking out of a window when I'm brushing my teeth anyway (plus if you have teenagers then not giving them a reason to linger longer in the bathroom is probably for the best :D)

I'd go with the shower over the bath option, because the toilet in your diagram looks quite crammed in. You can still have a good quality shower - the one we have above our bath is better than the "proper" one we have in the ensuite!

Thank you so much for replying! I am so torn now with what to do! I love our walk in shower downstairs, so am now not willing to compromise with a shower enclosure, but this is quite an expensive option and we should be trying to save some money 😬.

We are keeping the old bath, so it's just a case of finding a good price for the shower screens, toilet and sink cabinet.

The corner toilet idea is a great one and not something I had thought of at all! We have to keep the toilet in that position due to the cast iron soil pipe being in position and the extension has made it impossible to change it now.

Thank you!

This would be what it would be like without the extra shower enclosure and a shower in the bath instead.
