Macclesfield

I’m looking to relocate from Manchester (chorlton) to Macclesfield. I need to be within a few miles of the train station, not bothered about schools as no kids. Love the Picturedrome etc.
Could anyone advise on nice areas and streets to avoid? Is South Park a safe place to run etc?
Thanks!

Moss Rose is the main bad area in Macclesfield, so I've been told. It looks like that park is around that area so I'd guess it'd be a no, it's not very safe but I'm not certain. Hopefully someone who knows the area better will be able to advise.

There are some perfectly fine areas near South Park - the ones off Park Lane mainly.

I hope my pp didn't come across like Macclesfield isn't a nice place in general. I've always loved it and there are plenty of nice areas that I've seen at least, I was warned about that one area though. Good luck in your search OP.

@dontknowhowtofee you were right about the Moss!

How about the areas off Buxton Road? Handy for the station (and Red Willow/The Picturedrome 😉).

I only really know the areas around the Hurdsfield and Buxton roads. Good for access to walking opportunities and easy into town. We're on the Hurdsfield estate, some might see it as not very desirable and there are a couple of big blocks of flats. Quite a mix of social and privately owned houses though and we really like it. You get quite a lot more house for your money compared to the older/more characterful terraces, depends what you want.

Are you going to need parking? Quite a lot of terraced housing without much parking around generally so something to bear in mind if you need it.

Generally really like Macclesfield overall, we relocated quite a way and no regrets!
