Hello ,

Just want to make sure I'm
Doing this right !

Some of our lighting isn't earthed . So a electrician changed all to plastic light pendants .

But .. can I use a metal or part metal lampshade ?? Can't see any other way around it as all lampshades have metal as part of them one way or another .

Many thanks !

We had this so all the light switches are plastic but our living room light will be metal and our guy okayed it....but then after the plastic light switch decision the electrician did have to do some unexpected wiring work so maybe my post is pointless but it will bump it for you 😂

Hey !

Thanks 🤣

Our ceiling light fitting isn't metal , it's plastic , so the switches are plastic as is the light fitting .

I just was wondering if the lamp " shade " we add to the plastic pendant from the ceiling can be metal , which thinking about it must be as all lampshades have some metal on them one way or another !

Is your old house wiring too ? Ours is about 35/ 40 years I think . We were saving to do some Home improvements including re doing the walls so prob would have had a rewire then .
But Covid has totally scuppered us financially and we had to use our savings .
I had new consumer unit fitted few years back and that's when electrician advised to change all fittings to plastic . So we had all sockets / light switches changed and ceiling pendants changed to plastic .
The old owners had metal everything .
I think thousands of ppl do ! Without realising the dangers .
