Getting nervous about survey

Investor has sorted a “homebuyers” survey for jan.

In the bedrooms upstairs there is black mould around the windows because we get bad condensation, is there anything that I can do with this? Is it a bad thing when buying a house?

Well noone's going to be thrilled by black mould, but it’s fairly common. What have you done to fix the problem so far? Do you clean the mould away?

yeah just clean the mould away that’s it

98% of the time, black mould is caused by the occupant’s lifestyle - drying laundry indoors, inadequate heating not opening bathroom window when showering, not opening bedroom windows each morning to let moisture out and air circulate etc, so in and of itself it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for me unless the survey highlighted it was likely to be caused by a leak or water ingress.

You can make it less visible ahead of the survey by making sure you ventilate the house properly and wipe all windows down each morning, clean any existing black mould off the paintwork by wiping down with bleach, letting it dry thoroughly, then using an anti-mould primer to seal the paintwork before repainting the area.

HG mould spray is supposed to be good!

We had mould around our bedroom windows due to the en-suite. We put in a new extractor fan but it never helped much! Just buy some mould spray, leave for a few minutes & it just wipes away! We just did it every couple months if it was starting to come back!

Cilit bang black mould spray is really good.

Clean it off and ventilate more in the run up to the survey crack the heating up for a few days before - any damp readings from condensation will be eliminated.
