Building an internal wall

I hate my open plan living room, the stairs go up the side of the living room so all the heat escapes up the stairs, I want a stud wall put in to shut the stairs off around 12 feet in length with a door in it to accommodate the understairs cupboard.
Any idea of the cost? I will get quotes eventually when we are allowed to have people in the house again but I'm wondering if anyone's had this done and how much they paid.
The stupid thing is I had it done in my last house but it was part of a much larger build and I have no idea how much it cost me at the time.
I'm thinking maybe £500. I live in the west country so everything is cheaper here than say London.

Hi @madcatladyforever. We had a 2 x 2.5 meter stud wall built in our last house and it cost us £1000 including plastering and skirting boards but not decorating.

We are just outside London so probably more expensive in general but I would have thought by the time you’ve added a door frame and the door it would be at least that?

If it’s any consolation every time I try to guess the cost of building work it is always double what I imagine!
