Solar panel electricity for detached garage

We recently bought a house with a separate garage (ours and our neighbours garages are semi detached with each other and separate from our houses). We are both keen to power our garages but it seems that anything involving digging up our gardens will not be sensible as we recently both had our gardens redone. Has anyone had solar panel installed on their garage roof in this set up, and does it work well? We both use our garages as gyms, so don't need too much power

I'd say it depends on when you want to use the garage - if you're happy only being able to work out in the middle of the day in sunny weather it might work out.

Battery storage is possible but expensive. Overall I'd say probably cheaper and more effective to dig it up and have your garden redone afterwards...

You'd be far better off getting a solar+battery system on the main house - much the same price and far more useful - and then adding the cable.

Or just getting the cable done.
