So we’re in the middle of a reasonably short chain.
- FTB
- our buyers
- us
- our seller who is buying somewhere chain free.
We’ve had an extreme amount of pressure put on us to complete pre Christmas, from 1 & 2 in the chain, this would have suited us and we were ready but our seller wasn’t returning final enquiries and wasn’t ready with her onward purchase.
We pushed hard and managed to get ready for completion this side of Christmas and managed it but seller couldn’t do it due to removal requirements etc but managed to get ready for exchange and we all agreed completion for 8th Jan. 1 & 2 insisted on a pre Christmas exchange at the very least for numerous reasons. Anyway, we went to exchange yesterday, gave authorisation and solicitor said she’s call when it’s done but expected in the next hour.
We then get a email from solicitor saying that 1) had a mortgage issue and couldn’t exchange. WTAF! After harassing everyone in the chain for WEEKS!
Anyway we flipped and said they need to get it sorted ASAP as we need to book removals etc before the Christmas shut down and we’ve had to negotiate leave with work etc for completion and we will not be moving it back after the fuss they’ve caused.
WE have since had to chase up twice, finally got told that it’s been sorted and we called our solicitor to give her authorisation for exchange again only to be told she had no idea it has been resolved and nobody has contacted her.
She is now trying to contact all parties to try and get it done - the Christmas shut down is tomorrow!
I’m furious and venting. Hopefully some experienced house buyers will calm my nerves and tell me it’s all going to be ok.
It’s been a mad 24hrs - we had no idea if the mortgage issue was that they couldn’t get one and it was going to fall through or a bloody typo.
And breath.
