Where to live in Stockport? Around 250k budget

I work in Cheadle and OH works in Stockport near the pyramid, and are looking to move somewhere bigger

Looking for a 3 bed semi in a pleasant area with good schools which isn't too far of a commute, would like to be near some green space and preferably in somewhere with a bit of a villagey feel like the heatons or Marple or romiley

Don't want to commute over half an hour, am I asking the world? We are in reddish at the moment and would like something more rural feeling where we won't be waiting in traffic all morning to get to work, but a good school for the kids is a priority!
Help please! Could stretch up to 270-280 for perfect house in perfect area

Romiley is nice but the traffic can be an absolute ordeal. I think you’ll struggle for Cheadle with that budget.

I live in Hazel Grove , have lived in my house for 35 years so my roots are deeply planted !
The schools are good, choice of supermarkets and it has easy access to the countryside and Manchester but the A6 is awful .
If I were to move I would go for Marple .

We lived in Marple for 17 years and it is really lovely however have moved to Romiley earlier this year and it's equally pleasant. I think you would struggle to get a 3 bed semi that doesn't need work within your budget in either place. Have you thought about High Lane?

Not really looked at high lane but I will do! Happy to put work in as husband is handy, he moved the bathroom upstairs at our current house so I think he would be happy doing carpets/wallpaper/kitchen/bathroom as long as he doesn't have to do anything structural or electrical (I won't let him as I don't trust himself not to shock himself 🤣)

We recently did a similar move from Reddish and it was definitely the best move we made.
We’ve gone down to Davenport/Woodsmoor.
It’s not rural by any means (more suburban) but very green and leafy roads and an abundance of green space nearby plus a handy high street. It’s just nice to have that sense of space around you.

You could definitely get a 3 bed semi in Heaton Chapel for sub £280k but doesn’t have that villagey vibe like Heaton Moor if that’s what you’re after. Marple/Romiley are lovely but traffic is hell on earth. Stockport in general is crazy expensive which we found out when looking unfortunately! I’ve heard good things about Gatley, Cheadle etc or even further out like Strines, High Lane, Disley but then the commute gets longer.
