Green kitchen or grey kitchen??

Hello,

As the title suggests, I'm torn between choosing a very pale green or a very pale grey for our new kitchen cabinets. I love the green but am worried that it'll make changing the decor more difficult in the future if we fancy a change, or that I'll get bored of it quicker. It's also much harder to get hold of as most places just do a sage green which I'm not really after.

I really like the grey too, neutral and a bit more interesting than white (not wishing to offend anyone). But will I wish I'd gone for the green once it's in?

We're thinking of having wood-effect LVP on the floor, similar to the one in the photo, we haven't quite decided on the shade yet. Does anyone have any advice!? Or just your opinion of which colour you like best would be helpful!

The white in the photo are possible worktop options, we're thinking of white.

Thank you

Of the two i'd go for the grey, but personally prefer white cabinets, jazzed up with bold tiles, worktops, accessories & accent lighting as you like.

Would one of these greens work better?

I know there are nicer makes of paint but I'm just trying to get an idea of the right tone before I spend £5 on each tester!

Green -
Mine is bee and is navy with a dove grey island - I love it, so I'd definitely opt foe something you'd prefer unless you're planning on selling very soon, in which case I'd go for something completely different

toomanyoptionsaargh · 18/12/2020 15:22

Definitely not selling for a long time!

I like the Farrow and Ball colours Mizzle and Teresa's Green - not sure if they'd be too pale?

I have F&B Pale Powder. It is slightly more on the green spectrum than blue (at least to my eyes). I love it. It's been in 12 years or so and I still love it. If I had a larger and / or brighter space I might consider a stronger colour like apple green or even a cornflower blue.

the soft fauna is nice i think the paler green will be too much like the doors you are thinking of

toomanyoptionsaargh · 18/12/2020 16:04

Sorry, I was still thinking of the doors! I know you can get DIY Kitchens to colour match so I was trying to see if I could find a nice green for that. If we do go for something more neutral, I would use the green on the walls though - so there wouldn't be too much green!

still like the soft fauna

toomanyoptionsaargh · 18/12/2020 17:14

@isseys4xmastinselcats
Thanks, I'm going to order a tester and see what it looks like 🙂

We had a sample of Teresa's green and it was bluish in our room.

I think you like the paler colours op, it does not matter what anyone else likes it’s your kitchen, pastel green units with a white work top is to be honest quite a niche taste, but there is nothing wrong with that. Go for what you like.

SunnyUpNorth · 18/12/2020 20:06

We are hoping to do our kitchen this year and I’ll probably go grey, possibly even grey units and a navy island. Yes lots of grey everywhere at mo but I really like it and it’s easy to add different coloured details and change it up a bit. Goes with so many colours.

We put a grey kitchen in our holiday home last year with teal accessories. I love the kitchen, it’s so calming.

I do like the very dark green kitchens that seem to be replacing the dark navy ones. I quite like the sage green ones too, but less keen on the very pale green ones. However you should def go with what you like. Don’t worry about things going out of fashion etc. Something could be in fashion but just not someone else’s taste. Eg I hate modern kitchens and love shaker style but some people are the opposite. So just buy for you.

Sometimes when I can’t decide on a style/colour I go on Pinterest and just add any images I like to a folder for that thing. When we were doing our bathrooms there were a few different looks I liked. I created a bathroom folder on Pinterest and added bathrooms, tiles, taps etc. Pretty quickly it was obvious from scrolling through that folder what I had saved the most of and I went with that.

JacobReesMogadishu · 18/12/2020 20:21

I have a pale green kitchen and love it. It’s quite old now but I don’t think has dated because it was never really in fashion! Grin

I wouldn’t be sure about white worktops with it though. I have quite a dark cherrywood counter which I think is nice.

Led down a rabbit hole by another kitchen thread... this might inspire you, OP

Smallgoon · 19/12/2020 03:57

@toomanyoptionsaargh if it helps at all, I had my pantry shelves painted in Farrow and Balls and was happy with how they turned out, paired with white marbled worktop. I'd describe it as a toned down mint green.

Smallgoon · 19/12/2020 04:05

Would help if I'd posted pic!

Farrow and Ball's Green Blue* (I'm going to bed!).

laudemio · 19/12/2020 05:04

The green is lovely but your floor tiles are slightly too yellow toned for either of the finishes in your image.

laudemio · 19/12/2020 05:16

@zinnia beautiful! Op note the floor colour!

toomanyoptionsaargh · 19/12/2020 11:51

@laudemio
Good advice about the floor - I really love the combination in those photos. Thank you, I am not good at working out shades and tones so it really helps me.

@Smallgoon
Thank you for posting your pictures - that shade is gorgeous and everything is so organised!!

Zinnia’s one is gorgeous. It’s a sage green though. Op yours is a pastel mint green.

theparalelluniverseoftier3 · 19/12/2020 12:13

Not the green , I've just looked at a house with a green kitchen and would rip it out as it's too twee for my taste
