Green kitchen or grey kitchen??

Hello,

As the title suggests, I'm torn between choosing a very pale green or a very pale grey for our new kitchen cabinets. I love the green but am worried that it'll make changing the decor more difficult in the future if we fancy a change, or that I'll get bored of it quicker. It's also much harder to get hold of as most places just do a sage green which I'm not really after.

I really like the grey too, neutral and a bit more interesting than white (not wishing to offend anyone). But will I wish I'd gone for the green once it's in?

We're thinking of having wood-effect LVP on the floor, similar to the one in the photo, we haven't quite decided on the shade yet. Does anyone have any advice!? Or just your opinion of which colour you like best would be helpful!

The white in the photo are possible worktop options, we're thinking of white.

Thank you

I'm looking at these people for my new kitchen so not used them myself but https://shop.shakerdoors.co.uk/collections/primed-flat-panel-kitchen-doors might be what you're after? Despite the website name!

Thank you @Indoctro - what a great space you have! Your kitchen is lovely, I really like the green and can see why it's grown on you.

@chipshopElvis what a shame it won't load, I'd have loved to have seen that colour. Thanks for trying!

This is my Sea Foam Wren Kitchen in matte. It's a work in progress!
Personally I can't fault them..a couple of doors arrives slightly scratched due to a very late delivery in the dark which ended up in the delivery men dropping a couple of cabinets. I rang them the following day and they said they would provide me with replacement cabinets. No fuss whatsoever, I didn't even need to send pictures. They arrived 7 days later as promised. You can't complain with that!

@Kindlethefourth

Read somewhere that because of the Mrs Hinch effect that grey is going to date really quickly (I didn't care and have a white and grey bathroom).
What does this mean exactly? Not even sure who that is

Ikea does a lovely non-shaker sage green kitchen which I wish I'd seen at the time I'd decided on my kitchen.

Green

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 18/12/2020 00:56

I like sage green kitchens but not the green you have picked it reminds me of NHS green in hospitals.

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 18/12/2020 01:54

Green

Baxdream · 18/12/2020 06:03

It's potentially mizzle by farrow and ball. It's just an image I found on google.

MargotLovedTom1 · 18/12/2020 06:16

That Ikea kitchen is a lovely colour.
The mint green reminds me of dated, old melamine kitchens. I'm not keen and prefer the grey out of the two options. There are some much nicer greens on here.

mrssunshinexxx · 18/12/2020 06:26

Op- greeen but I prefer sage green to the pale one

mrssunshinexxx · 18/12/2020 06:27

Op I used wren and chose midnight blue and love it. Everything was great but we didn't and wouldn't use there fitters

GirlCalledJames · 18/12/2020 06:31

Unless you want to move soon get exactly what you want. No point decorating for someone else.

daisypond · 18/12/2020 06:38

I don’t like that shade of pastel mint green. If it was down to your initial two, I’d pick the grey. That green is a bit ‘50s diner melamine to me. The IKEA green one is lovely, though.

Bluntness100 · 18/12/2020 06:50

Yes the IKEA colour is better. The pale pastel green isn’t good in my opinion.

QueenStromba · 18/12/2020 08:37

Remember about ten years ago all of the bathrooms in new builds had those big beige-tan coloured tiles and it looked great? And now the same beige-tan tiles look horribly dated and naff. There's just so much grey all over the place at the moment (carpets, tiles, kitchens etc) that it's going to look seriously naff to everyone in a year or two max.

toomanyoptionsaargh · 18/12/2020 09:30

Thank you so much to everyone who's posted so far, I'm very willing to be told my taste is horrible! It sounds like the consensus is that green is the way to go but that I need to keep looking for the right shade!

I did look at the ikea one but felt it was a bit dark. I really appreciate the opinions and especially the photos of your lovely green kitchens.

I'm having that IKEA green one, with a light worktop and natural wood accents/shelving, in an open-plan family room. Their BESTA range also has a more-or-less coordinated textured green door which I'm going to use in the living area.

I don't personally love mint green, but much prefer greens to greys.

BewareTheBeardedFatMan · 18/12/2020 10:36

I agree that the pastel will have a 50s feel, but I disagree that that is a bad thing. I would actively like a 50s/60s feel to my home decor. It is your personal taste at the end of the day, and you need to please you since you will be the one having to live with it.

Smallgoon · 18/12/2020 10:55

@toomanyoptionsaargh What type of worktop are you going for? Will the walls be tiled/painted etc?

toomanyoptionsaargh · 18/12/2020 11:05

@Smallgoon
We're thinking of white corian (or quartz) worktops and just simple upstands rather than tiles. The walls will just be painted.
