Another paint question!

Calling those who know their paints! I’ve narrowed down selection to:

All Rooms:
LG Rolling Fog (light or med)
LG Slaked Lime (light or med)
F&B Skimming Stone
F&B Elephants Breath

Bathrooms & Kitchen (need off white)
LG Shirting
F&B All White
F&B Wevet

I don’t want to buy 9 testers (Already been through a pile!) so could someone please help me understand what colours these actually are in reality & what undertones? Tia

Also Clay Mid, True Taupe & Tusk look contenders!

Rolling Fog & Shirting look good

Slaked Lime looks a bit green on the screen?

We now prefer LG.

Sunisshining12 · 16/12/2020 19:14

Any particular shade? Looking for something not too cool, not too warm. Neutral, sort of beigey latte grey?!

I really like the slaked lime pale or shirting. The F&B skimming stone might be a bit too dark?

SantaPranki · 16/12/2020 20:31

Have used Shirting . It is a warm off white .
H likes LG paints . Fed up with F+B .
He liked Shirting so much he has bought more for internal work.

SantaPranki · 16/12/2020 20:33

Shirting is white . It is not harsh . Soft , mellowness to it . It is not grey beige latte.

Thighdentitycrisis · 16/12/2020 21:26

I have LG Joanna and it’s a warm light beige

SwimmingOnEggshells · 16/12/2020 22:32

We have skimming stone. I quite like it, it's different colours in different lights - can look very contemporary or very classic, depending on what you pair it with. I find elephants breath too dark and it's overused in my opinion.

I don't like wevet, I think it's quite a cold, harsh white.

Have you looked at f&b great white? I'm lusting after this at the moment.

Sunisshining12 · 17/12/2020 13:47

Thanks for suggestions!

For all areas - I’m looking for a latte grey. So not too grey but not too brown.

For the off white - I don’t want anything yellow, nor cold/blue. Just a soft white

Help :-)

@SantaPranki - how warm would you say Shirting is? Is it yellow?

I’ve just eliminated Elephants Breath & Wevet. They both looked purple!

The only F&B contender is Skimming Stone. Is this more grey or more latte?

LG have a lot of choice & I like that they have light, med & dark in some colours. Just trying to narrow down which samples to order! Thanks

Definitely more latte for skimming stone

SantaPranki · 17/12/2020 17:06

Definitely not yellow.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 17/12/2020 19:06

You could consider buying the F & B large colour swatch. It is much better than the free small paint chart for evaluating the colours.

Africa2go · 17/12/2020 21:03

I actually prefer LG paint now but had F&B in sitting room for about 5 yrs. Not a hint of purple here, it was beige. Not a greige or latte grey, just beige.

Africa2go · 17/12/2020 21:04

Sorry missed out Elephants Breath. kind of key info. Whoops Hmm

Saddlesore · 18/12/2020 15:28

Hi - I used LG Slaked Lime in my main (south-facing) living room and love it. The walls that the sun hits are a creamy white, but the overall tone is a really rich neutral and in the evening with lamplight it looks very cosy.
I have LG Rolling Fog in my dressing room and it's more of a soft mocha. It was originally in F&B Elephant's Breath, but that looked almost mauve in that (east-facing room).
I refreshed the skirting in my kitchen with F&B Wevet but when we redecorate next year I'll change that as it looks almost blue-white, which isn't what I wanted (but might look nice and fresh in a bathroom).

Hope that helps?

SollaSollew · 18/12/2020 16:04

If you’re looking for a light grey/beige/off white you could try F&B shaded white or the slightly lighter shadow white. It’s definitely off white beige in the day and greyer under electric light. I’ve just painted my kitchen in it and it’s really lovely.
