No extension to Stamp Duty holiday

The government have said there will not be an extension to the stamp duty holiday past the end of March 2021; I admit I was convinced they would extend another 6 months!

I wonder if this will slow the mini boom (8% increase from this time last year) and prices will deflate slightly? (perhaps 5-8%).

Finger's crossed for everyone to get their purchases through in time.

When they said no extension for furlough, they made a last minute U-turn, no national lockdown, they made a suddenly U-turn, you just can't trust any words from this government..
Extension of mortgage holiday, furlough, bounce back loan etc..all you can see is they will highly possibly extend to another 6 months under pressure for cliff edge drop market.

Oops posted to soon!

I think there will have to be some sort of extension. With all the Covid cases, lockdowns, plus extra work at solicitors and surveyors etc sales are taking much longer currently. There’s 3.5 months until end March so it ridiculous that sales currently in the system will miss out. I think they will extend for cases going through already.

“No plans” to means nothing

I expect there will be a u turn on this too, would be very surprised otherwise, the last thing gov or anyone needs is the property market to crash.
