Excited but nervous

We are buying an unusual house, very modern and different from anything we have previously lived in.

It is bigger than our current house and not on a road, so a lot quieter, and no street lamp just outside so it will be proper dark.

Fell in love with the house as soon as walked in the front door - it just felt so right. The process of buying and selling is taking so long I am just getting a bit nervous so wanted to share some photos to find the joy again.

We too are buying a very modern house (2yrs old) which is totally unique as it was designed by its current owner. We also fell in love with it when we walked in. I think your house looks lovely and I'm saying this as someone who's always lived in old houses our current house is 600 years old.

@timetochangeyourlife what is your new house like?

Its all glass and windows high ceilings and a mezzanine floor it also has a view. Our current house is all beams very low ceilings, stone walls smallish cottage windows and 4 feet thick walls.
We're very excited there were times when I thought we'd never purchase it as we had another house to sell and the buyer was a nightmare.

Do you know when youre completing? Will you be in for Xmas? We will our cottage ceiling are so low we only ever buy a small xmas tree this year we've bought a 7 foot tree!!

Bzzzzzbumblebee · 13/12/2020 19:22

We won’t be in by Christmas, that was the plan originally but your buyers mortgage has taken a lot longer than expected. Only waiting on a valuation then everything is in place, fingers crossed for early January.

Very exciting to be able to get a much bigger tree.

Wow. That is nice 👏🏼👏🏼 I’d love to live in such a fancy house! I love super modern.

Hope you are in ASAP!

@timetochangeyourlife will your furniture fit you new home? Not just physically but stylistically as well.

I’m a bit worried nothing of ours will suit the new house / just be too small. Current lounge is small and cosy and we have a slim just about seats 6 table.

We're buying new furniture!

Nice house OP. I know what you mean about no street light out front, our new house is the same, so hoping it will be quite good for seeing the stars.

timetochangeyourlife · 14/12/2020 06:46

I'm being nosey now because its such a lovely house I'm not surprised your excited. Where's the way in? How many bedrooms? Is the kitchen living room open plan? I love the garden. Is brand new the drawing look like it is? Lastly is it in the UK something about make me think it's not?

Bzzzzzbumblebee · 14/12/2020 08:38

@timetochangeyourlife yes it is in the U.K., in Hampshire. The photos show the back of the house there is a front door in the other side. It is 5 years old and has 4 bedrooms (all a really decent size). The kitchen dining area and lounge is 1 room 15m by 5m, a much bigger room than I have ever had before.

I think we will have to get new furniture as well, but that doesn’t have to be immediately.

Looks lovely, OP. As someone who moved from town to somewhere with no street lights, my only advice would be to get a night light or two! We have a couple plugged in on the landing and in our bedroom as when it gets dark, it can be REALLY dark. First night we moved in to our current house, it never crossed my mind. Until I woke up in the small hours, room was so dark I didn't know where I was, which way was up or what way round I was on the bed! Absolutely love it, though (been here 17 years now). Hope all gets sorted soon. Xmas Smile
