Our house is an early victorian cottage/terrace and I have tried to make it as traditional, cosy and cottagey without straying into kitsch territory (hopefully!). We moved in 3 years ago and I have always hated the modern bathroom which is so out of keeping with the rest of the place. Anyway, we have a leak and this has prompted us to consider a new bathrooom (yay). The last owners chopped a part off the landing to make the bathroom into a weird L shape and put the shower where part of the landing would be and I would return that back to it's original state (to give us a nice space to put a desk and workstation hence giving us more room downstairs). So it would be roughly 11ft x 10ft. What I am not sure about is first of all where to get the suite from (don't want to go crazy expensive but don't want it to look like cheap crap either ... ) and thinking of very traditional suite and maybe free standing bath next to windown with a shower over it. It is fully tiles at the moment and I would prefer either half tiles or tongue and groove - but if we have tongue and groove what do we do with the over the bath shower bit - it is ok to put it in the plastered wall or would this cause a damp problem. I have a plumber coming and I will ask him all this but would welcome any input and ideas about budget (thinking 5K max for whole thing), suggestions of where to buy a bathroom (had a bad experience with Bath Store years ago which looked cheap as chips) also flooring ideas. Thanks in advance
