New kitchen being fitted - damage

Hi,
We are currently having a new kitchen being fitted in our rental property. My tenant has sent me a photo today to show me that a hole has been made through the adjoining wall of the kitchen to the bedroom - where the extractor fan is. They have patched the hole but obviously this is now going to mean we need to repaint the wall. It is sizeable.
Where do we stand on this with regards to what the fitters are liable for? I live about three hours away from the property hence why my tenant is sending me photos. I am a bit cross that the fitter hasnt mentioned it to me too. They had left by the time my tenant arrived so its not like they had told him. Just waited for it to be discovered.
I do get that damage is unavoidable sometimes but I dont know if this is something I should just be sucking up so to speak or whether I need to bring this up. The fitter has been subcontracted by the kitchen company.

Can someone please advise me - I have never had a kitchen fitted before so not sure quite what to do in this situation. Thank you!

that's kitchen fitters for you; bodge it and scarper. We had ours badly stuffed up, if we hadn't been there to see it would have been left that way.

Thank the tenant for sending the photo and raise it with the people you actually paid to do this. Be prepared for a long argument as kitchen companies lose all interest once they've got your money.

Thanks for your response. Job hasn't been finished yet so no money paid etc. Kitchen fitters saw my tenant this morning and assured him they would make good. So fingers crossed it will be ok.
But thanks for your advice - i will make sure we dont sign anything off and pay til we are happy.
